Convert fractions to decimals or decimals to fractions, including mixed numbers and repeating decimals like 0.(3). Useful for math, measurements, and homework. Free.
Convert a fraction to a decimal by dividing the numerator by the denominator. For example, 3/4 = 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75. This calculator also works in reverse, so you can convert a decimal to a simplified fraction, including repeating decimals such as 0.(3) = 1/3.
Use the fraction fields for questions like 1/8 as a decimal, 5/16 as a decimal, or 2 3/4 as a decimal. Use the decimal field for reverse conversions such as 0.375 = 3/8, 1.25 = 1 1/4, or 0.1(6) = 1/6. You can type repeating decimals with parentheses, for example 0.(3), 0.1(6), or 0,(3).
How to Convert a Fraction to a Decimal
- Use the numerator as the number being divided.
- Use the denominator as the number you divide by.
- Calculate
numerator / denominator.
Example: 7/8 becomes 7 ÷ 8 = 0.875.
Repeating Decimal to Fraction
For repeating decimals, put the repeating digits in parentheses. Examples: 0.(3) means 0.333..., 0.(6) means 0.666..., and 0.58(3) means 0.58333.... This gives exact fraction results instead of rounded approximations.
