Note. This calculator is intended mainly for estimating a future parental benefit. Once parental benefit has already been granted, the official decision and the Social Insurance Board self-service data should be used instead.

The calculation assumes an ordinary case, current benefit and tax rates, one recipient, and the expected due date entered in the form. The Estonian Social Insurance Board determines parental benefit based on the child's actual date of birth, so the reference period, benefit period, and amount may change if the child is born in a different month.

The calculator does not fully cover every special case, such as children born close together where an earlier parental benefit may be preserved, adoptive-parent rules, premature birth exceptions, simultaneous use by both parents, foreign income or residence questions, or benefits already granted under earlier maximum-rate rules.

The maximum parental benefit limit applies to new benefits granted under the rules in force for the relevant year. A benefit already granted at the maximum rate is not recalculated merely because the calendar year changes.
