VAT Calculator FAQ

How do I calculate VAT?
To add VAT: VAT = net × rate and gross = net + VAT. To remove VAT from a gross amount: net = gross / (1 + rate) and VAT = gross - net.

How do I add or remove VAT from a price?
To add VAT, multiply the net price by (1 + rate). To remove VAT from a gross price, divide by (1 + rate). The calculator does this instantly when you enter either net or gross.

How do I calculate VAT from a gross amount?
Divide the gross price by (1 + rate) to get the net amount, then subtract it from the gross to find the VAT. For example, VAT = gross - (gross / (1 + rate)).

When should I use net, VAT, and gross fields?
Use net when you know the price before tax, gross when you know the final price including VAT, and VAT when you already have the tax amount and want to find the other values.

What is B2B reverse charge mode?
In reverse charge mode, VAT is set to 0 on the invoice and net equals gross. The buyer reports and pays the VAT in their own VAT return instead of the seller.

What are common VAT calculation mistakes?
Common mistakes include using the wrong VAT rate, confusing net and gross values, and not applying reduced or zero rates where applicable.
