Count business days between dates or add and subtract workdays. Exclude weekends and selected public holidays in 56 countries, including Easter.
Dates shown in red fall on a weekend, so they do not remove an extra business day.
How to calculate business days
Choose Count business days to find how many working days fall between a start and end date, or Add or subtract business days to move a set number of working days forward or backward from a date. Business days are Monday to Friday; weekends are always excluded.
Pick a country to also exclude its public holidays. The holiday list is calculated for any year using each country's fixed and date-based rules (such as Easter), so it stays correct for past and future dates, not just a fixed calendar.
In Count mode, use Include start date and Include end date to control whether the two endpoints themselves are counted, then see the result broken down into weekend days and public holidays excluded. In Add or subtract mode, any weekend or public holiday in the way is skipped and listed under the result.
Use the quick date range buttons (This week, This month, Next month, This quarter, or the current and next year) to answer questions like "how many business days are left this month" or "how many business days are in 2026" for a chosen country without entering dates by hand.

A business day is any Monday through Friday that is not a public holiday. Saturdays and Sundays are never business days, and if you select a country, its public holidays are excluded from the count as well.
A year with no holidays removed has about 260 to 262 business days, since each year is roughly 52 weeks of 5 weekdays. Once a country's public holidays are excluded, the real total is usually closer to 250 to 255, as most countries observe 8 to 12 public holidays a year. Select the This year preset with a country chosen to get the exact figure for any year.
A typical month has about 20 to 23 business days before holidays, since months run from 28 to 31 calendar days with roughly 8 to 9 weekend days in between. The exact count depends on the month's length, which weekday it starts on, and any holidays that land on a weekday; use the This month or Next month preset with a country selected for the precise number.
This calculator always treats Saturday and Sunday as non-business days, which matches the standard working week in every country currently supported.

Turkey's Ramadan and Sacrifice Feasts are supported for 2026-2035 using officially announced dates, since they follow the lunar calendar rather than a fixed rule.
No, only nationwide public holidays are included. Many countries also observe regional holidays, for example individual US states, Canadian provinces, German federal states, or Swiss cantons, which this calculator does not add because they vary by exact location and change independently of national law. If your dates depend on a regional holiday, check your local public holiday calendar as well.
Several countries move a public holiday to the nearest weekday when it falls on a weekend, often called a substitute or observed day. This calculator approximates that with the common Saturday-to-Friday, Sunday-to-Monday shift; in rare years where two shifted holidays collide (for example Christmas Day and Boxing Day both falling on a weekend), the exact observed dates in some countries may differ by a day from this calculator.
Yes. Governments occasionally add, remove, or move public holidays by law. This calculator applies each country's current holiday rules to any year you choose, but very old or far-future results should be checked against an official source if accuracy matters.
